Hey Hortensia,
Another challenging semester for me. My brain hurts.
15 months from now, I should be graduated and gainfully employed. Just gotta keep plugging along.
i am not particularly interested in the wtbts and their current doings.
or doctrine, or debates about god/evolution.
i am more interested in people, especially ex-jws like me.
Hey Hortensia,

i was 8 when my mom brought us into the jw's.
i am in my late 30's now.
many knew me from school.
Wow! Nicely written. I'm interested to hear the responses you get.
yearbook 2013 :letter from the governing body.
dear brothers and sisters :our heavenly father, jehovah, is the personification of love.hence the bible states :"god is love".
(1 john 4:8) even though jehovah is almighty ,his word never says ,"god is power" or , "god is might".he bases his rule primarily on love.how this attracts us to him!.
"Happily, Jehovah does not force us to serve him. He is not a dictator."
What part of their message "serve Jehovah or die" do they not understand? According to WT, he will use force. And if you live in bethel, the rules are dictatorial to the extreme.
if you go to college/university...where do you see yourself in 20 years, 50 years?.
if you do not get higher learning, where do you see yourself in 20 years, 50 years?.
or loss/saving for 40 years = $480,000.00.. someone else can compound the interest.. do you have a 5 year plan?
A rule of thumb is to not acquire more student debt than what you can expect to earn in your first year of employment. Since I started at community college and am pursuing a BS in engineering, I will be well within that range of less debt than first year's earnings.
Additionally, I expect to get hired locally and will follow the advice to live my first year after university as though I were still on a limited "student budget". No new car, new house, or other such debts until the student loans get paid down significantly.
On the other hand, I've heard that some don't rush to pay down their student loans when they have crazy low interest rates on the debt. But as crazy low interst rates as banks are paying on deposits, I think I'll keep paying off my debt as priority.
Judging by the starting salaries, my earning potential will be far better as an engineer than as a Circuit Overseer .
As far as my future in the real world, either I'll be 20 years older with a degree or 20 years older without a degree. I'll be far better off with the degree. I don't see myself as the type that will want to retire ASAP. I'd rather find a career that will keep me interested and mentally occupied until the day I die.
i have just joined this website and just wanted to say hello to anyone out there.
i am so nervous, after thirty odd years in the "truth" i feel as though my husband and i have just walked into a room full of smiling strangers and we are just standing here hoping to god someone will come up and speak to us.
scared and excited and hoping to wake up one morning and not wonder what we do now???
Welcome franticfran!
Growing up a dub, my sibling relationships were always rather strained. One faded before me, now one is fading after me. We're mentally "out", and have never been closer emotionally and mentally. It's been very healing to be able to discuss our miserable JW experiences together.
Also, Welcome vajeni82!
the cycle continues.... two weeks ago a loving and fragile sister passed away due to her age and chronic health, she only had one son and 2 grandsons.
(she was the only jw in her family)when my wife gave me the sad news we immediately went over to the hospital to give some words of comfort to the grieving family.. .
what happened next was another cruel example of works for salvation vs. good deeds from love.
Keep this "pioneer's" response in mind if he ever asks a favor of you.
After all, Jesus said that the stones could preach, but only humans can provide love and comfort. Perhaps it's better that this as$ho!e continue doing the work of a rock and leave the job of helping those in need to humans like you.
Welcome!
No need to make any rushed decisions. Keep reading here and think about your personal circumstances and what plans you want for your future. Think about a fade, that's what I've done, as well as lots of others. It sounds like you're busy enough with kids and mom that they take priority over "WT ministry" which is just "busy work."
Lots of others here have faded with spouses and kids. I'm sure they'll have great questions and suggestions for you.
haven't been on here in a long time, actually, i'm sitting down for the first time in years!.
did armageddon come?
any old posters, that i still remember?.
"What's new?"
The number of partakers continues to increase, which must mean the end if very near!
And there was a new GB member appointed last year who is only 47 or so, which means the end must be very far away!
Congrats on the growing family. Busy mom like you will never have time to waste in a KH.

There may be snow on the roof, but there's still a fire in the furnace!
